Opportunity: Mohamed Djama Guedi joined The Schreiber Research Group through the Mandela Washington Fellowship's Professional Development Experience (PDE) as a Data Project Manager.

Experience: Contributed to dashboards, graphs, and data marts while learning how research and data drive meaningful community impact and connecting with industry leaders.

Haley's Story
"Visualizing the problem is the first step to finding the solution."

Challenge: Haley Nam witnessed the devastating impact of opioid addiction firsthand while volunteering with the homeless, motivating her to seek meaningful, data-driven solutions that improve community health.

Partnership: Developed GIS mapping and data analyzation skills during her time as an intern and part-time analyst with TSRG, building the foundation for a career in public service.

Impact: As a Senior GIS Analyst, Haley now analyzes public data to promote data transparency for citizens, helping communities make more informed decisions.

Katleho's Story
"Recovery gave me a second chance. Today, my mission is to help others find theirs."

Challenge: As a recovering addict from Lesotho, Katleho Ntobo understands firsthand the barriers individuals face when seeking treatment and long-term recovery.

Purpose: While working with TSRG, Katleho wanted to deepen his knowledge of addiction recovery and evidence-based interventions.

Impact: He hopes to bring new skills and global perspectives back home to support the establishment of Lesotho's first operational rehabilitation center and expand access to recovery services.​​

Sojeong's Story
"Research taught me that meaningful data can create meaningful change."

Opportunity: As a Research Assistant at TSRG, Sojeong Kim supported opioid use disorder research through survey development, data collection, analysis, and publications.

Growth: Leading an original survey from design to analysis strengthened her research skills and reinforced the value of community-informed, evidence-based research.

Impact: Publishing research on urban-rural disparities in opioid use disorder prevention helped shape her career. Today, as an assistant professor, she conducts research that informs public policy and strengthens communities.
