This video highlights the ongoing impact of the substance use epidemic on communities across Colorado and the nation. In response to this challenge, the Colorado Trust provided grant funding to the Las Animas School District and The Schreiber Research Group, in partnership with Communities that Care and the Otero County Health Department, to explore effective drug prevention strategies tailored to rural middle and high schools.

The training features perspectives from individuals with lived experience of substance use disorder (SUD) as well as students from the District Health Advisory Council (DHAC) in the Las Animas School District. It also presents evidence-based practices in drug prevention and explores how rural school districts can incorporate prevention training and activities into their already full schedules.
