Data Collection Methodology
Between 2022 and 2025, TSRG collected, analyzed, and reported data every six months, adhering to the requirements of a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Implementation IV grant. Our key project partners contributed data relevant to substance use disorder (SUD), including healthcare workforce characteristics, demographic information of individuals receiving SUD services, and types of services provided. The project’s service area encompasses Bent, Conejos, Crowley, and Otero counties in Colorado. Data submissions have been received from a range of agencies, including the 16th Judicial District Probation Department, Access Point Colorado, the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community (Fort Lyon), the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention (the Consortium), county coroners, Conejos County Emergency Services, Conejos County Public Health, the Otero County Sheriff’s Department, the Otero County Health Department, RESADA, Ryon Medical, and Valley-Wide Health Services.
Data Limitations
HRSA reporting requirements govern data collection; however, local agencies may collect different variables to meet their specific reporting needs. TSRG and partner agencies align variables where possible, though some key agencies may not be able to report on all the variables presented in this dashboard. Moreover, variations in data collection methods across organizations can pose challenges when comparing data between agencies. Partner engagement with HRSA activities varies across different Performance Improvement Measurement System (PIMS) cycles. Consequently, some agencies that submitted data for PIMS 1 might not do so for PIMS 2 or 3, and vice versa. TSRG reports data as provided by partner agencies without the means to verify the accuracy or detect duplicates in the submissions. Nevertheless, TSRG remains committed to working closely with partners to enhance data reliability and address these limitations. Our goal is to use these data to provide a more actionable response to service needs in the regions.
