The Supernatural Research Group uses
a multitude of instruments during our investigations. This equipment
includes a variety of EMF meters such as the Mel Meter and KII meter. We
also deploy Digital voice recorders, 0 lux CCTV system, IR
Illuminators, Dual Spectrum Video Cameras, digital thermometers and hand held Sony Nightshot camcorders.
Like most groups, we are always looking for
new technology that we can leverage in hopes of documenting paranormal
claims.
We are currently testing the use of data logging equipment
on our investigations. These devices allow us to record
temperature, humidity, EMF and sound at preset intervals and
log this data with a time stamp. This gives us the ability
to trend the data and look for anything out of the ordinary that
we may be able to tie into the events of the evening. As things
progress we will post the details of our findings here.
We
are also very interested in utilizing a thermal imaging camera
on our investigations. The cost of this device is currently
preventing us from making this a reality.
Below we have
listed some of the tools that we use during our research. If you
have any questions or comments, please let us know. We would be
happy to assist anyone by providing information on why we chose
the equipment that we did as well as where we purchased it from.
Our Current Equipment:
Close Circuit TV System:

We are currently using a PC based DVR system with
six high resolution zero lux IR cameras capable of recording
images in total darkness during our investigations. This system
offers us the flexibility that we need and will support up to 16
cameras in total.
Hand Held Camcorders & IR Illuminators:

TSRG currently uses a combination of Sony Hi8 and
Mini-DV "Nighshot" camcorders during our investigations. We are
looking to replace these tape based units with hard drive based
recorders. By doing so we will be able to expedite our review
process and cut costs by not having to buy new tapes for each
investigation.
Dual Spectrum Video Camera:

TSRG uses the ModiTronic "Full Spectrum" HD
Camcorder during our investigations in an attempt to capture
anything that may reside outside the visible light spectrum.
Although this device is marketed as a "Full Spectrum" camera, it
has been modified to block all visible light. TSRG feels this
camera is more of a dual spectrum device. It is believed that
spirits exist in the UV/A spectrum based on the fact that most
accounts of sightings are reported to have been witnessed out of
the corner of the eye. Since this device is able to record video
in this spectrum, between 320nm and 400nm (Ultraviolet), we are
hoping to either validate or debunk these claims.
Digital Cameras:

TSRG uses digital cameras during our
investigation to baseline each area we investigate. We leverage
the still photos taken before the investigation as reference
points in the event we think object manipulation has taken
place. These photos coupled with our logs and CCTV system help
us eliminate any false positives captured during our evidence
review process.
Digital Voice Recorders:

We use Olympus Digital Voice recorders during our
investigations in an attempt to capture Electronic Voice
Phenomena.
Electro Magnetic Field Meters:

TSRG uses a wide array of EMF meters during our
investigations. We do not rely on just one type of meter, as
each meter has its strengths and weaknesses. We always baseline
a location and mark high EMF fields. This allows us to quickly
recognize any anomalies that may occur.
Data Loggers:

TSRG exclusively uses fourier®
Systems MultiLogPRO data loggers to record and log Temperature,
EMF, Humidity and Sound Levels on all of our investigations.
Sound Level Meter:

TSRG uses a hand held Digital Sound Level meter
during our baseline session to record base level decibel
readings on each investigation.
Not Pictured Here...
We don't see the need to display
every little piece of supporting hardware that we own and use on
our investigations. We, like most other groups, have an assorted
array of tripods, cases, cables and tools that we lug around
with us on each investigation.
The items listed above are of
importance since they are used to base line a location and then
record anything out of the ordinary during the investigation.
TSRG does not go in to a location looking for "Ghosts", our
primary focus is to establish a baseline of a location and
monitor it for anything that deviates from the baseline.
