Background Info:
The Supernatural Research Group
was founded in August of 2006 by two friends who work together
on a daily basis in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Both of us have
had an interest in the Supernatural realm since childhood.
Combined, we have over 35 years experience in the IT field. Like
most folks in this field, we find that a lot of the skills we
use in our day-to-day jobs help us during our research endeavors
with the supernatural.
Jim and I kicked around the
idea of building a site in 2007, but were reluctant to do so
until we were ready to bring something to the field that could
and would benefit everyone conducting research efforts related
to the supernatural and paranormal. During out research into
what was currently available or present on the web we discovered
that there are a lot of people out there with good sites that
provide a lot of the same information to the public in their own
words. The one thing that really hit us was the fact that there
didn’t seem to be any consistency in research practices,
evidence review standards or even a peer review process across
the paranormal community.
We felt that we could combine
our IT background with our passion for the supernatural and
apply that to the paranormal field and produce a site that would
help solidify the research efforts of many, provided they are
willing to participate.
Purpose:
With this in mind we set out to
build a World Wide Web presence that would accomplish the
following:
-
Produce a website that allowed us to inform our community
that we are here to assist those who are experiencing things
they can not explain free of charge.
-
Build a site that would provide value to everyone out there
who, like us, is expending a lot of time, energy and
resources pursuing their love of this field.
By value we intend to provide the following:
-
Forms to help standardize
the collection of information.
-
Resources that assist all
investigators in collecting, analyzing and receiving
feedback on data collected from their team members and
peers.
-
A forum where many groups
interested in the supernatural can propose, discuss and
attempt to standardize on process and procedures related
to paranormal investigation.
-
Provide resources such as,
types of equipment, where to purchase equipment and
standards on using said equipment to new groups that are
getting into the field.
-
Avoid conveying the
impression to other groups and the general public that
paranormal investigators are only in this field for the
fame or money.
-
Establish a central
repository of information related to the supernatural
where all members can gain access while conducting and
reviewing research.
-
Attempt to form a cooperative that will allow many
supernatural/paranormal investigation groups to focus their
efforts and combine their resources in an attempt to help
reduce costs associated with purchasing research equipment,
maintaining a web presence and establishing credibility
within their communities.
-
Create a paranormal organization that provides value to its
community as well as being respected and viewed as
creditable by its peers and the scientific community.
We are fully aware of the
enormous undertaking we have decided to pursue. We are also
aware that we will not be able to do this on our own. We will
require the support and assistance of many to make our dream a
reality.
We are not looking to reinvent the wheel here. We are fully
aware and acknowledge the fact that there are many paranormal
groups out there that have been working long and hard in this
field. We understand that each group has their own way of doing
things based on experience and a lot of trial and error. We also
know that there are many groups out there just starting in the
field of supernatural/paranormal research that could and would
benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience of others who
have been doing this for some time.
Over the next several months our site will be changing to
reflect our core purpose for starting the site as outlined
above. If you are interested in assisting us or getting involved
please let us know. We are also in the process of recruiting
team members for future investigations. All contact information
for TSRG is located on the "Contact Us" page.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is our
philosophy?
We approach each case from a scientific point of view by
attempting to find reasonable explanations for each and every
claim. By eliminating what is not paranormal first, we can
concentrate our efforts on the evidence that is unexplainable.
Do we charge
for an investigation?
We will never charge anyone for an investigation. Although there
are significant costs associated with conducting an
investigation, our appreciation for the opportunity to
investigate someone's home or business is payment enough.
Does your
organization accept donations?
Yes we do! We are a non-profit organization that continues to
offer our service to the community. Donations are used to assist
us in funding our investigations, travel for investigations and
costs associated with this website. We will gladly accept
donations from anyone who is willing to help.
As stated earlier, there are
significant costs associated with conducting an investigation
and your donations will allow us continue our work. If you wish
to make a donation, please contact us so we can provide you with
the information you will need to do so. You can also make a
donation using the "Support TSRG" applet located just under the
menu for this site.
How can I join
your group?
TSRG is always looking to expand our group. If you would like to
be considered for membership, please call or email us with your
information. We will provide you with an application, which will
start the process.
